A 37-year-old man died of asphyxiation while cleaning a Delhi Jal Board (DJB) sewer in a residential neighbourhood in west Delhi’s Dabri on Friday evening, police said. According to them, the man, Anil, a labourer was lowered in a 20-foot deep sewer by a ‘weak’ rope tied to his waist which snapped midway. Not only did the family have no one to mourn the death with, they did not have money to pay for the last rites also. The real struggle for Rani began when Anil was the breadwinner of the family and with him gone, she has to look after 3 young children all by herself. So, Ketto set up a page to raise funds that shall be utilised for the education & well-being of the children and dignified life for the family. Rs. 52,08,748.00 out of Rs. 25,00,000 goal was raised and it is deposited in Master Gaurav’s account after necessary and mandatory deductions. Out of which, Rs.50,00,000/- (Fifty Lakh) is converted as a fixed deposit for a period of 10 years. The idea was that family should receive monthly interest to take care of the children’s needs, health and education.
