Engine-as-a-Service (EaaS) is a new operating model that replaces traditional engine purchases with a usage-based, fully integrated service package. Customers no longer pay for engine ownership, but for guaranteed availability, performance and predictable operating costs. The project was triggered by customer surveys in which more than two-thirds of users expressed a clear interest in new service models that reduce risk and increase transparency.
The EaaS concept focuses on a comprehensive range of services: installation, commissioning, preventive maintenance, spare parts supply, remote diagnostics, telemetry, troubleshooting and complete replacement of engines. IoT-supported condition monitoring, OEM diagnostic tools and predictive maintenance can significantly reduce unplanned downtime. For the customer, this results in a ‘worry-free model’ that eliminates economic risks and maximises machine availability.
The project shows enormous potential for transformation: EaaS paves the way for long-term, data-based partnerships in which engines are no longer seen as products, but as guaranteed operating performance. For us, EaaS is the next logical step in the development of engine sales – a scalable model that makes revenue predictable, maximises customer value and redefines the industrial drive of the future. This not only creates an innovative service model, but also a sustainable future strategy for the entire market.
