For over a decade, Allstate Protection Plans (APP) has transformed the extended warranty industry with an obsessive focus on the customer experience, turning a once-difficult service category in the retail industry into a true value-add for consumers and retailers.
As a result, Allstate Protection Plans is today one of the leading global providers of protection plans, partnering with some of the world’s most recognized brands. In the U.S., it powers programs for major retailers such as The Home Depot, Walmart, Costco, Target, and Wayfair. In Canada, it supports protection plan programs for The Home Depot and Staples. Operating under the SquareTrade brand in Europe, it delivers services to prominent mobile carriers and retailers, including T-Mobile, Elkjøp, and MediaMarkt. Additionally, its footprint is expanding in Japan and Australia, where it collaborates with leading retailers and mobile operators.
Central to its success is the fact that Allstate Protection Plans continuously drives market innovation across the category. APP is once again redefining what protection plans can deliver by leading the shift toward circular economy and electronics lifecycle management for retailers, manufacturers, and consumers. An initiative that highlights this shift is Staples Trade-in by Allstate, launched in Canada. This new program enables Canadians to trade in unwanted electronics for Staples e-gift cards, helping families and students save money while reducing e-waste.
Built for ease and flexibility, the program offers a fast and intuitive way to trade in smartphones and laptops. Customers simply answer a few questions online to receive an instant quote. Once accepted, the trade-in value is issued as a Staples e-gift card – redeemable immediately in-store at any Staples location in Canada. Devices can then be dropped off at the customer’s local Staples store or shipped directly to Allstate using a prepaid shipping label, making it easier than ever to turn old tech into instant value.
This project builds on a successful partnership between two leaders in their respective industries while promoting sustainability, enhancing customer experience, and encouraging device circularity.
