Established in July 2021, Axelera AI is a startup company which is developing a powerful, efficient and competitive hardware and software platform for accelerating artificial intelligence at the edge. At the core of it there is our chip based on our proprietary in-memory computing and dataflow technology developed by our team in Eindhoven, Zurich and Leuven. Our technology is scalable and largely outperforms incumbents and any other startup. Its game-changing Metis^TM AI platform – a holistic hardware and software solution for AI interference at the edge – enables computer vision applications to become more accessible, powerful and user friendly than ever before.

The Axelera AI core team comes from ETH, IMEC, Intel, IBM Lab Zurich, Qualcomm, Asus and the company is backed by international companies such as IMEC and Bitfury and by institutional investors such as Innovation Industries, IMEC and the Dutch agency for enterprises (RVO). Our advisors are Prof. Torsten Hoefler ( ETH), Prof. Luca Benini (ETH) and Prof. Marian Verhelst ( KU Leuven) In just 18 months we onboarded more than 100 highly skilled people (40 own a PhD), opened offices in 5 countries, taped out our first chip and launched our groundbreaking Metis AI Platform to accelerate computer vision applications at the edge.
