Did you know that in a nursing home with 80 beds around 400 falls occur annually? And up to 50% of these falls result in mild or severe traumas? It is high time to address the situation and provide a better quality of life to our seniors. This is what Mintt is committed to doing with its fall detection and prevention system.
We developed an artificial intelligence that uses 3D sensors and continuous movement tracking algorithms to analyse elderly behaviour. This intelligence automatically and directly sends an alert to the medical staff when a fall is detected. Furthermore, it also prevents falls by alerting caregivers in case a patient gets out of bed or is out of the field of vision of our sensor for more than 10 minutes. Indeed, those events could easily lead to a fall.
Moreover, we also provide the medical staff with in-depth analysis tools. Our artificial intelligence generates anonymised sequences of the falls, recorded from two minutes before until two minutes after the fall. Thanks to these sequences, the caregivers better understand the causes of the falls and tackle them by adapting their treatments to the needs of their patients. The sequences recorded by the sensor are very accurate and easy to understand for caregivers, which allows them to issue appropriate recommendations.
Besides, our solution automatically generates a register containing all the falls that occurred with their visual sequences. It produces patterns between the implementations by the medical staff and the ameliorations in the patients’ behaviours. This allows the quality manager to monitor the evolution of the quality of care closely.
It is important to note that our fall detection and prevention system is fully compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in force in Europe. The captured images are anonymised by 3D point clouds and don’t allow anyone to be identified. Furthermore, only the sequences of the falls are saved, and the data is only used to improve the safety of the patient and limit the repetition of falls.
Our system is developped as an IOT. It is integrated into platforms in order to interact with other digital solutions, like patient files or alert systems.
Through our solution, we want to enhance our seniors’ quality of life and care, and provide them with more autonomy. We bring them, as well as their families, much-needed peace of mind. Indeed, thanks to our system, the intervention time after a fall is reduced to 45 seconds.
In addition, the beneficial contribution of our system in the management of falls relieves the workload of the caregivers. It is a real added value to their work since it alerts them immediately when a fall occurs and provides them with in-depth analysis tools.
We firmly believe that our artificial intelligence can revolutionise the field of healthcare.
