Artlist – The BOLD Award:
Our mission is to support and empower creators worldwide to tell their stories through video.
By providing them with cutting-edge software and a simple solution for digital asset licensing, we’re giving content creators the creative freedom they need to do just that.
In the age of the emerging creator economy, we believe that creative freedom is essential in helping creators worldwide take their art to the next level and ultimately achieve their wildest aspirations.
As video creators ourselves, we understand the industry and what it takes to succeed. We believe that access to high-quality digital assets and software doesn’t have to be expensive. Nor does it have to be complicated. The tools we use should enrich our creative processes, not get in the way. That is the core belief behind Artlist.
Through our four products, Artlist provides creators with everything they need to create their very best video work. With access to unlimited asset downloads and a revolutionary, global license that covers every project worldwide, creators really can create without limits.
Our offering includes:
- Artlist.io: a royalty-free music and sound effects platform.
- Artgrid.io: a curated stock footage platform.
- MotionArray.com: an all-in-one marketplace for creators with over 600,000 digital assets, including video templates, presets, music, SFX, stock footage, motion graphics and stock photos.
- FXhome: cutting-edge video, VFX and image editing software.
On top of providing users with high-quality, curated assets at an affordable cost regardless of their experience or skill-set, we work with a growing team of contributors across the globe. Not only does this provide us with incredible content and regular fresh content on our catalogs, but we also get to support a global community of artists.
Through our work with contributors, we enable musicians and video creators to focus on their art and get paid for the incredible and inspiring work that they do. We’re honored to be able to support the creative community in this way, providing opportunities to musicians and filmmakers and helping them to get their work seen by millions of people worldwide.
Recognized as a top startup by LinkedIn and WIRED, Artlist counts Google, Apple, Nike, Coca-Cola, Ikea, Mercedes, Samsung, Wix, Netflix, Dior and many more among its 16 million clients.
Since Artlist’s founding in 2016, we’ve been driven by our mission to be the ultimate all-in-one platform for content creators everywhere.
We’ve recently broadened our offering with the addition of FXhome’s editing software and Motion Array’s digital assets, as well as integrating a new subscription tier designed to reach aspiring and social-oriented creatives. As we grow, we continue to expand our products and are well on our way to becoming the complete 360-degree solution for all content creators everywhere.
Our marketing strategy
As a creative technology company, creativity is at the center of our marketing strategy and activities. The Edit Challenge is a recent campaign of ours that took place in August 2021:
What is the Edit Challenge?
The Artgrid x Artlist Edit Challenge is Artlist’s biggest creators competition of the year, focusing on creators’ abilities to tell inspiring stories using Artgrid stock footage and Artlist music.
The challenge is a month-long campaign that involves two of the company’s major products. It appeals to all kinds of video creators worldwide, offering more than $75K in filmmaking gear to be won in prizes.
As part of our mission, the Edit Challenge is open to everyone. Both existing and new users can participate, even with a free account. Participants are prompted to create a short video for one of 3 categories: a made-up movie trailer, a made-up brand ad or a music video for an Artlist song. To submit their entry, creators need to upload their work to YouTube with a specific hashtag. Through this competition, Artlist aims to increase its retention rate and draw new users, as well as continuing to establish its brand as the best source for high-quality creative assets for video creators.
Marketing and promotions
To promote the Edit Challenge and offer the best incentives for creators to join, Artlist collaborates with industry-leading brands to offer prizes worth more than $75K. These brands include BenQ, Blackmagic Design, Nanlite, Zhiyun, Rode, Rhino, Insta360, Lume Cube, MZed and Maxon.
In addition, Artlist teamed up with leading filmmakers and content creators to build the contest’s panel of judges. Award-winning directors Vania Heyman & Gal Muggia (Apple, Coldplay, Nike), esteemed industry veteran John FK Parenteau (Star Trek, Hunger Games), filmmaker & YouTuber Ryan Connoly (Film Riot) and content creator Cache Bunny (Will Smith, Red Bull) were among the judges.
The marketing funnel was extensive, with all efforts leading to a dedicated landing page.
Traffic was directed via targeted PPC campaigns on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, as well as via organic marketing tools such as newsletters, organic social media content, YouTube videos and more. In addition, Artlist’s Partnership team collaborated with several YouTubers who created dedicated videos around the challenge.
The campaign was a resounding success, with over 1,600 entries submitted from creators worldwide. The Edit Challenge landing page had more than 340K page views – more than 5 times higher than the previous year.
Artlist and Artgrid saw an increase in retention rates from users who were exposed to the campaign, and there were more than 2,000 new users who registered to Artgrid or Artlist. In addition, we saw a 23% increase in media downloads and site engagement on Artgrid.
The campaign has also strengthened our relationship with industry-leading brands and helped establish Artlist as THE community for creators worldwide.
