OVER: a brief introduction

We switch off what you forget”, this the idea from where everything started, in 2012 as a spin-off from a research team of the University of Roma “La Sapienza”. OVER is a product-oriented company aimed to design and commercialize innovative and cutting-edge system. The aim is automating decision making process to simplify daily tasks with a reduction of waste, energy, and carbon emission. From the strong relationship between our advanced system and sustainability is born the vision of OVER: the leading technologies for a sustainable tomorrow. OVER want to raise the excellence standard in sustainability world that is evolving day by day. The OVER product philosophy is “whatever has a carbon emission must be controlled and measured”, helping the companies to reduce the carbon emission and increasing their environmental footprint for the future generation.  With 6.300+ connected installation, 80.000+ device installed, 10Tb of profiled consumption data gathered from the field (the largest profiled consumption database ever built) and 250+ GWh of energy managed 24/7. The company grown from a spin-off to a structured and launched organization, and it is still growing. Nowadays, OVER counts more than 100 employees worldwide, with two Italian offices, in Rome and in Milan, and two foreign ones, in Dubai and London.

Our BOLD solution: OverBoard

The OverBoard cloud software is developed and updated by our Research & Development Team to monitor, manage and optimize the energy consumption of associated plants. Every single upgrade comes from the deep knowledge and analysis of data by Over Innovators and their attunement to customers’ needs, making our web platform for energy management distinct in the market since its very launch. As a web service, OverBoard does not have any particular minimum system requirements; it does not require installation and it can be used by more than one user at a time, not needing any further training except an intuitive mind. OverBoard is part of a sophisticated product architecture (OBox, NanOMeter, OMeter and Octopus) which has the undisputed advantage of being able to be integrated with those of third parties, even if they are already installed. Particularly, all the products by OVER have the capability to control and monitor any kind of appliance: from the easiest light to the most complex HVAC system, from the maintenance to the employee commuting. Our Carbon Reduction Solution learns from the habits of the building leading to high optimization, in fact, based on how the building behaves, the system learns and adjusts itself.

OverBoard: sustainability and its main features

OverBoard, our Carbon Reduction Solution, leverages artificial intelligence and machine learning to optimize building management, delivering cost savings (up to 45%) and lower carbon emissions. Particularly, growing carbon emissions are a major obstacle to achieving a sustainable future, in fact, are at an all-time high, according to the new Global Carbon Project (GCP) report. By the end of 2021, they reached 36.4 billion metric tons (GtCO2), just 0.8% below the record high of 2019 (36.7 GtCo2). The World Institute Research analyzed the carbon emission by sectors: the buildings are the third contributor to the global emission, after industry and agriculture, forestry, and land use. Only the bold have the courage to go higher and to walk where no one has gone before. That’s why OVER decided to act. Customers who have adopted our solutions have been able to optimize the energy performance of their buildings, achieving savings of 20% with climate and electrical outlet management alone. But, even more surprisingly, in areas such as Dubai the savings achieved under the same conditions have reached up to 45%. This has resulted in significant savings in carbon dioxide emissions.

Real Time, Alerts & Rules

Anytime and anywhere, the web platform OverBoard can be used. Its real-time function enables the user to connect “live” to the devices installed in a given plant. A user can – in real-time – monitor consumption, create new e-rules or edit already existing ones. Once saved the e-rules immediately become active for dynamic actuation or alerts going forward. E-rules can be paused, deleted or created at any time or adjusted to account for external and constantly changing parameters (such as time, energy consumption and power) at any time. A great strength is the ability to install dynamic rules. In fact, the user will only have to enter the goal he wants to achieve and the system, automatically, thanks to Machine Learning, reaches it in the most efficient way possible, minimizing consumption.

Global Analysis & KPIs

Additionally, it allows to define relevant KPIs for multi-site analysis and reports on best and worst performers, alert history, and general energy data (which can be viewed by month, day, hour and filtered according to customized or pre-set timeslot filters). As it emerges, OVER’s solution allows to significantly simplify the decision-making process: it is able to make this process, by its nature long and complex, faster and faster, going to address with precision and accuracy fundamental choices. In fact, it helps energy managers to take decisions for the management of their buildings. For example, OverBoard allows an easy comparison between different sites, allowing to identify in a simple and intuitive way where the waste in terms of energy occurs, highlighting possible areas of improvement.

Three View

Another relevant feature is the Three View section, which shows a hierarchical diagram of the entire plant and the monitored lines. This allows each user to monitor individual devices and individual power lines, and as well as to create custom graphs including or not including lines of interest.

Preference & Exporting

Define which KPIs are relevant for your company, group related properties into KPI clusters for multi-site analysis and reports on best and worst performers, alert history, and general energy data.
