Saipem is an advanced technological and engineering platform for the design, construction and operation of complex, safe and sustainable infrastructures and plants. Around 32,000 people work for Saipem in over 60 different countries around the world.
Saipem needed to conceive and develop an enterprise platform to easily index, tag and search documents for high level requirements, by using cognitive search and NLP technologies integrated with Azure platform tools. The challenge was to create a smart data hub to support operators by optimizing the document research process in terms of relevance and accuracy of responses. It was necessary to implement NLP techniques in the field of text recognition: a large volume of organizational, quality and technical documents (manuals and regulations), divided into 7 types of documents in different languages.
In partnership with Injenia, Saipem conceived a solution that will become a strategic asset, improving the dissemination of knowledge and the quality of the information that operators will benefit from. This solution makes it possible to increase the efficiency of processes, to save costs of low added value activities and to greatly improve the speed of information retrieval. Injenia has structured a robust and consistent Corporate Information Hub, easily accessible and consultable, supporting the decision-making process with regard to internal processes. It ensures security, a seamless usability experience and it helps Saipem to deliver the right content to the right user.
