Vodafone is bringing the first augmented reality cooking app, Giga AR, to the German market – and to Nreal Light AR smart glasses. The result is a completely new way of cooking. Anyone cooking with ‘Giga AR’ has their hands free, can see their surroundings and can concentrate entirely on cooking. In the app is a variety of recipes from the world of Kitchen Stories, a digital, video-based cooking platform. Added to this are exclusive recipes from celebrity TV chef Steffen Henssler, who personally accompanies the preparation of the dishes as an animated 3D character and has had himself “virtualized” via full-body scan for this purpose. Cooking has never been easier. Step by step, the app guides you through the recipes – with the integrated gaze control of the Nreal Light smart glasses, it is as if it runs by itself. Users determine the recipe flow themselves. They can pause the menu, skip steps or simply repeat them by controlling their gaze. Alternatively, users can control the Giga AR app and the Nreal glasses via their smartphone using a virtual laserpointer.
